What are Dental Implants?

Smiling man

A dental implant is an appliance used to replace the roots of teeth. Dr. Taylor will surgically attach the implant to the jaw bone and an artificial tooth is attached to the top of the implant, creating a natural-looking, undetectable replacement for the missing tooth. In the event that more than one tooth is missing, several implants may provide a base for a series of artificial teeth known as a fixed bridge. Implants can even be used to secure a full set of removable dentures for people who have no remaining natural teeth. This can greatly improve chewing ability and reduce the risk of choking.

It generally takes about six months for the surgical implant to heal before the final installation of the artificial tooth or teeth can be finished.

Advantages of Replacing Teeth With Implants with Taylor Dentistry

Dental implants with artificial teeth are the closest thing to regrowing your natural teeth. They are strong, stable, durable, and virtually undetectable. By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability and head off jaw joint problems. They are far superior to removable dentures.

Cynthia Clark - Dental Assistant

Cynthia is a small-town girl born and raised in the Hoosier State known as Indiana.  Soon after attending college, she married her childhood friend and moved to his duty station in Colorado.  This is where she graduated from Colorado Dental Assisting School.  In 2020 she moved to the Sunshine State to be closer to family.  Soon after moving, Cynthia joined us at Taylor Dentistry as a dental assistant!

Her mission in life is to always see a smile on everyone’s face, especially her son!  In her free time, she loves to be a busy bee with her family and friends, boating, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding!

Tory Deweese - Dental Assistant

Tory was born and raised in Midwest Illinois where she received her Associates in Applied Science and her Certification as a Medical Assistant.

She and her husband moved to Central Arkansas in early 2000 where she worked as a dental assistant, assisted with expanded hygiene, and became assistant office manager in a family-owned dental practice that has been in business for over 100 years. Tory, her husband, and two adult children relocated to Gainesville in May of 2020 and joined Taylor Dentistry soon after.

Tory enjoys spending time outside paddle boarding, hiking, exploring all the new areas around her, and crafting. What she enjoys most is making a once considered negative experience at the dentist one that everyone feels welcomed, informed, relaxed, and can’t wait to tell their friend and family how great their experience was!

Connie Aledter - Patient Coordinator

Connie and Dr. Taylor have had the pleasure of working together since Dr. Taylor’s opening day of her practice in 2006!

Connie was born, raised, and educated in Germany and moved to Gainesville in 2001 where she lives with her two daughters and grandson.

She has over 30 years of experience in the dental field helping patients navigate their insurance benefits and finding ways for all patients to afford optimal dental care. In her spare time, Connie enjoys spending time with friends and loves watching the Gators play. Connie is gifted in having an eye for design! She helps keep Taylor Dentistry looking fresh and modern to create an inviting and welcoming environment for our patients.

Cara has a wife and three dogs at home that she loves to spend time with when she isn’t at work.  She is avid in her fitness community and aims to keep herself healthy in all aspects of her life, including her teeth!  Though she does indulge around town enjoying good local food and drink!

Cara joined Taylor Dentistry in 2015 and loves being a part of this team!  She experiences great joy with educating patients on the importance of a healthy mouth and strives to make everyone’s visit to Taylor Dentistry comfortable and stress-free!

Kat Crews - Dental Hygienist

In addition to graduating with an AA degree in Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, she has also received an AS degree in Dental Hygiene in 2008.

Her daughter and son keep her busy and there doesn’t seem to be any downtime or pausing in her life as she is constantly doing something active and on-the-go. She is in and out of the gym and loves to do any activity that pertains to working out and overall body health.  Kat enjoys taking part in indoor and outdoor adventures with her husband, Scott, and their family.  They’ll go anywhere the adventure and fun will take them.

Ariel Tidrick - Dental Assistant

Ariel is an outgoing girl who was born and raised in a small town in Michigan then moved to Gainesville for school and the warmer weather in 2014.

She is currently attending classes at Santa Fe College in hopes of becoming a practicing dentist one day. Ariel joined the Taylor Dentistry team in December of 2017. Ariel loves working with patients and making sure they feel comfortable and relaxed while in our office.

In her spare time, Ariel is usually somewhere on her boat either tubing and wakeboarding on Lake Santa Fe in Melrose or spearfishing down in South Florida.

Josh Edinger - Dental Assistant

Josh has one younger sister who lives in California and works as a news reporter!  Outside of the world of dentistry, the things that bring him joy are his family, making music, going to the gym, watching movies, and occasionally getting outside.  You may find him biking on the Hawthorne Trail if the weather is nice.  The things that he enjoys about dentistry is providing help to our patients who want to improve their oral health, getting to know his patients, and working with such an amazingly knowledgeable, efficient, and effective team.
